I've been thinking since Sunday night about how I need to come up with a Top Ten list for Tuesday. And I have a couple great ideas, but I feel that they are so great that they need more time than I am able to devote to them this week. I know, total teaser, right?
It took over an hour for Paityn to fall asleep, and the entire time, I was trying to think of a quick Top Ten post.
And totally blanking.
Panic set in.
I must think of a list. I must post tonight. I have shamefully neglected my relatively new blog, and that's just wrong.
Alas, my mind continued to churn out only the most ridiculous of ideas.
Top Ten Chores I Got Done This Weekend? Lame.
Top Ten Excuses for Why I haven't Worked Out in an Entire Week (but still ate ice cream every night)? Lamer. And I'm kinda feeling guilty about that, so I'd rather not share anyway.
But then, procrastinating and desperately hoping for inspiration to strike (but totally doubting it would), I read Oh Amanda's Top Ten list- The Thought Process of a Top Ten Tuesday Post. It was all about how she didn't know what to write about tonight, either.
I felt both a kinship and a relief that I'm not the only blogger suffering writer's block tonight. And inspiration (sort of) struck. Or maybe desperation. Either way, I have a list.
Ten Reasons Why I Have No Top Ten Post This Week
10. I'm tired. Not just plain tired but the scratchy eyes, stumbling walk, difficulty forming cohesive thoughts kind of tired.
9. Dan's been gone since last Tuesday night. And I have 11 more days of Dan being gone to get through still.
This past week has led to me starting a post about the awesomeness of single parents.
This past week has led to me starting a post about the awesomeness of single parents.
This past week has also resulted in me making very little headway into said post.
8. June is my work month from the depth's of Hades.
I really should be working right now. Just the mere thought of how much I have to do tomorrow alone almost completely kills my blogging mojo.
7. The Seinfeld episode with George and the whale is on right now. I absolutely must watch this episode whenever I see it's playing. It's amazingly brilliant and hysterically funny.
"The sea was angry that day my friends..."
Tell it, George!
6. The whale episode also happens to be Dan's favorite, making me miss him even more which causes my already on life support blogging mojo to flatline.
Rest in peace, blogging mojo.
5. I have three different posts all in various stages of completion, and it's making me feel scattered and more focused on those ideas than a top ten post.
Writing when my thoughts are scattered is not conducive to organized, list like posts.
4. I'm using my work laptop right now, and work emails with quotes to review keep popping up. How many quotes is my boss going to send out tonight, anyway? Make it stop!
Actually, if they stopped, that would mean we had no work and that would be bad. I guess. In theory, at least, paychecks are a good thing. So, I take back my plea to the heavens. Just make it stop tonight.
Besides, the tiny columns make my already scratchy eyes even scratchier.
3. This sweet little girl took forever to fall asleep tonight.
But I did get treated to an impromptu toddler version of Old McDonald. "E-e-e-i-u. Moooo. Donald. E-e-e-u." And some really sweet kisses and cuddles.
2. I have to get up early tomorrow, and it's already late. I have to be prepared for Tuesday Morning's Meeting That Never Ends.
Seriously. It goes on and on, my friend.
See, this is why I shouldn't write when I'm this tired. Instead of being funny, I cross over into groan-worthy territory.
1. And that's it. I don't even have ten legitimate reasons why I don't have a Top Ten post. Only nine sad ones.
Actually, I think number ten should count twice. I'm really, really tired.

LOL, love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd now you have The Song That Never Ends stuck in my head. Thanks a lot! :)
Very clever! I'm having the same problem - just found the Top Ten and am trying to think of something that isn't lame!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about having several posts in various stages of completion! :) And I'm now curious about the "whale episode." I haven't saw it.
ReplyDeleteSorry Amanda!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kerri! Some weeks are harder than others, but I'm sure you will come up with something far more brilliant than my reasons why I couldn't come up with something brilliant! :)
Bluerose, welcome! And you must see that episode! The. Best. Seinfeld. Episode. Ever.
Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
You got an Award!! :0)

I just stumbled across your blog and I must say, The Marine Biologist is my favorite episode of Seinfeld too. Hands down.
ReplyDelete"Is that a Titlest?"
HI, Molly! Thanks for the laugh with that line. My husband and I constantly quote this episode to each other.
